The China Ionic Liquid Laboratory (CHILL) was initiated by Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP,link: http://www. dicp. ac.cn / englishvers/), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS.link: http://www. cas.cn) and Queens University Ionic Liquid Laboratories Research Center in November 2006. The activity in this laboratory officially started with the appointment of Prof. Dr. Urs Welz-Biermann, formerly Marketing Manager for Ionic Liquids at Merck KGaA, in January 2008. This Laboratory is an important part of the future National Clean Energy Laboratory which will be a research base of clean energy related topics in China.
